Haunted Places In Colorado
People love to visit haunted places and Colorado has some to the best haunted places to visit, including famous ones. There are stories behind these places and some have a grisly past, which is why they are some of the most haunted places in Colorado. The Hotel Colorado is located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and has had many sightings of ghostly activity. Some of the occurrences are lights that switch on when the guest are sleeping and when they get up to turn it off, they turn off by themselves. During the renovations in 1982, they wallpapered the walls, after it was applied and the contractors left and would return the next morning to find it neatly rolled up and taken off the walls.
Apparitions have also been seen at the hotel, one of a little girl in a Victorian dress and another of a chambermaid that had been murdered. Doors have also been known to open and close and the elevator goes up and down all by themselves. Every October they have a ghost walk that goes to the hotel and other haunted places. One of the most haunted places that you can visit if you are going ghost hunting is cemeteries. And Colorado has one of the creepiest; Central City Masonic Cemetery at high is a scary place to be.
Orbs can be seen flying all over the sky in the cemetery and can be caught on film. There is said to be a little boy that roams the cemetery and if you go to talk to him he hides. Another apparition that appears in the cemetery is a woman that is dressed all in black. She only appears twice a year and can be seen near the grave of John Edward Cameron. All the research that has been done on the woman lead them to nothing about the connection. The last haunted place that we will look at is the most famous hotel that is over a hundred years old and was the inspiration for a book, The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park.
The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration for Stephen King’s book The Shining. After a stay at the hotel he got the idea for the novel that would later be turned into a movie. Some of the haunted things that have been heard and seen in the hotel are children laughing, piano music coming from the ballroom, and the most haunted rooms in the hotel are room 407, 401, and 217.
